Gacha Studio review
Gacha Studio is a mobile game, in which you get to play with a set of anime-ish characters. You can literally direct their lives, design their appearance and make them do other whims of yours. Available for mobile platforms, the game may enthrall those who like life-simulators, visuals novels, anime and Gacha/Lunime universes.
Gacha Studio for iOS and Android gives you the impression of what it's like to be the:
- Movie director.
- Costume designer.
- Makeup artist.
- Plastic surgeon.
So many careers thrown into one gameplay!
In this game, you can design your own characters, both male and female, with their unique personalities, biographies, and stories. Choose outfits & clothing styles. Adjust facial features: mouth, eyes, chins etc. Select a hairstyle and its color from the catalog. And to polish, the newly created persona give him/her a couple of unique elements: a little eccentric hat, a katana blade and so forth. Oh and not to forget about a pet your hero/heroine may have: there are more than 100 of those!
A pretty entertaining option here is the variety of poses you can apply to your anime-ish boys and girls. They can be kissing, arguing, snuggling, hugging, fighting, dancing, spying on each other etc. After all body language can be very expressive and Gatcha studio creators know it.
Finally, when the visualization of your characters is complete, you can get to draw the story of their life. Throw them into various situations: form comedic, ridiculous short scenes to real drama. Create a visual novel, convert it into a video format and voila: the whole movie based on your vision is ready. You can even create music videos, starring your GS guys, who will also speak the lyrics of the song via the speech balloons.
But in case you grow tired of writing the life stories for those little anime munchkins, you can always go to the Arena mode. There you can battle some of the well-known Lunime characters.
The game's visuals are about classic anime stylistics: big eyes, kawaii clothing elements, quirky hairstyles and so on and so forth. Playing Gacha Studio feels like creating your own anime title. Moreover, there's a huge assortment of backgrounds of all types: school, stadium, prison, urbanistic street, park, living room, dance floor etc. So any situation your model could feel authentic.
Gacha Studio isn't really demanding when it comes to controlling it. Character customization, screenwriting, directing, trigger-setting etc. it all can be done by swiping and tapping and sometimes double-tapping. So it's more about having a bit of patience than about perplexing controls.
