2020 will be a great year in the gaming industry! A lot of releases are waiting for us! Cyberpunk 2077, The Last Of Us Part II, Doom Eternal, and other anticipated launches are on the horizon. Everyone heard about them, everyone knows them. However, at the same time, in 2020, there are planned releases of other, no less interesting, games that you can easily skip over the hype of such giants. In this blog post, we gathered seven unique games you should play in the new year!

Way To The Woods

Way To The Woods gameplay

Developer: Anthony Tan

Platforms: Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows

Developed by an independent game developer Anthony Tan, Way To The Woods immerses you into the exciting and, at the same time, dangerous adventures of two deers: adult and fawn. They need to find a way to their home in a post-apocalyptic world where no human survived. As the developer describes the game on its official website: “Two deer in a strange, abandoned world without humans must find their way home. Find food, shelter, safety, and answers on your way to the woods”. Way To The Woods has unusual gameplay and storyline, therefore, you will be really impressed and enjoy the game. In addition, it features high-quality graphics and a lot of unique sounds that will immerse you into this fictional world even more.

The Pathless

The Pathless gameplay

Developer: Giant Squid

Platforms: PlayStation 4, Microsoft Windows, iOS, Macintosh operating systems, tvOS

The Pathless is a new game by Giant Studio that is well-known as Abzu creators. With its impressive underwater world, this game quickly won the hearts of gamers. This fact gives great hope that The Pathless will be no less impressive and exciting. Now, you need to follow the adventures of a brave archer and an eagle in the vast and dangerous forest. Similar to Abzu, the game has stunning magical graphics. The plot of The Pathless is no less exciting: the whole world was shrouded in darkness, and only you can save it. It’s an open-world game which means that you can explore each corner of the magical country no matter what level you have. There are a lot of secrets hidden in the forest!

Twelve Minutes

Twelve Minutes gameplay

Developer: Luis Antonio

Platforms: Microsoft Windows, Xbox One

Twelve Minutes is an adventure game planned to be released in 2020. Unlike the titles mentioned above, Twelve Minutes will only be available to play on two platforms: Microsoft Windows and Xbox One. It was built by the independent developer Luis Antonio. To tell the truth, I really like the fact that many games made by one person are in no way inferior to the games that were developed by large studios in terms of the quality of graphics, music, gameplay, and plot. Twelve Minutes is played from a top-down perspective. Your hero will be closed in the apartment with the kitchen, bedroom, hall, and bathroom. Your goal is to complete various tasks during a 12-minute cycle to solve the mystery.

Mineko’s Night Market

Mineko’s Night Market gameplay

Developer: Humble Bundle

Platforms: Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, macOS, Macintosh operating systems

This game gets the cutest game award from those on our list! Believe us, you will begin to smile just by reading the description of the game. Players will assume the role of a curious little girl named Mineko who just moved to an island full of cats inspired by the one in Japan. But here is one thing that prevents the girl from enjoying her stay in this lovely place — the island is hiding a secret. Your task is to help Mineko to reveal it.

The game is available in two languages: English and Japanese. Players can explore the island, craft the things, gather the resources, and meet new friends. Also, you can attend the Night Market to sell or buy different things.

Carrion

Carrion gameplay

Developer: Phobia Game Studio

Platforms: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, Linux, Macintosh operating systems

Carrion is the second game made by Phobia Game Studio, the fist was BUTCHER. Similar to it, Carrion is also a horror game but with unexpected gameplay. How do you imagine a horror-style game? Most likely, you will accept the role of some brave hero, whose fate has fallen to fight with a monster or ghost. However, Carrion is different. Here, you will play as ‘an amorphous creature of unknown origin.’ People want to get you to prison, so your task is to evolve your abilities, kill people that come in your way and spread fear.

Kentucky Route Zero: TV Edition

Kentucky Route Zero: TV Edition gameplay

Developer: Cardboard Computer

Platforms: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Microsoft Windows, Linux, Macintosh operating systems, macOS

Kentucky Route Zero: TV Edition was published by three independent developers Jake Elliott, Tamas Kemenczy, and Ben Babbitt that are well-known by their alias Cardboard Computer. The history of development began a few years ago when Kentucky appeared on Kickstarter with the goal of acquiring $6500. After a short period of time, the development team managed to collect even more — $8583. Therefore, in 2012 the world saw a trailer of the upcoming game. Kentucky consists of Five Acts, the first one was released at the beginning of 2013. And now, in January 2020, it is planned to launch the Fifth Act. Similar to all previous entries, there will be no vocal audio, only text-based dialogues. Strive to know more? Download and play the game!

Empire of Sin

Empire of Sin gameplay

Developer: Romero Games

Platforms: Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, Macintosh operating systems

Empire of Sin is planned to be released in the second quarter of 2020. Unfortunately, the exact date is still unknown. The game will take place in America during the Prohibition period, and you will assume the role of one of the several crime bosses. You need to defeat your empire from other bosses and manage people in your group. Sounds easy, but it is not that simple!
